FORENSIC DNA ANALYST

Sorenson Forensics is seeking applicants for the position of Forensic DNA Analyst to work in our Salt Lake City laboratory. Sorenson Forensics is a leading provider of casework and validation services for federal, state, and local crime laboratories and Officers of the Court in individual criminal cases. Candidates must have completed a comprehensive forensic DNA training program to include a range of samples typically encountered in forensic casework. Candidates will be asked to participate in our Validation Services product.

REQUIRED:

B.A. or B.S. degree in a biology, chemistry, or forensic science related area. College course work or classes covering the subject areas of: (a) biochemistry, (b) genetics, (c) molecular biology, and (d) college course work or training that covers the subject area of statistics and/or population genetics. Qualified candidates must meet the FBI’s Quality Assurance Standards for a technical analyst/examiner (Standard 5.3).
Minimum 6 months experience working in a forensic DNA laboratory performing forensic casework, 2+ years preferred.

FORENSIC DNA TECHNICIAN

Sorenson Forensics, LLC is a leading provider of casework and validation services for federal, state and local crime laboratories and Officers of the Court in individual criminal cases. We are currently seeking a DNA Tech to work at our Salt Lake City, UT biotechnology laboratory, just minutes from skiing, hiking and a variety of other outdoor pursuits. This position will be responsible for performing certain aspects of forensic DNA analysis procedures on criminal casework samples with emphasis on instrument and / or robotic operations. This position will work closely with the casework team to accomplish our mission and may train other staff as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

This position requires excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to troubleshoot problems using technical and creative solutions, and the ability to multitask and adapt to change rapidly. A thorough background check and genotype profile is required prior to handling criminal evidence.

DNA extraction
DNA Quantitation
PCR set-up
Capillary electrophoresis in both a manual and highly automated system using liquid handling robots

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

College course work covering some aspects of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, statistics and/or population genetics. (attach transcripts)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

6 months of relevant laboratory experience is preferred. Forensic DNA Technician I must successfully complete a qualifying test before participating in forensic serology responsibilities.
Computer programming experience would be beneficial.

FORENSIC ROBOTIC ENGINEER

Sorenson Forensics, a division of Sorenson Genomics, is a leading provider of casework and validation services for federal, state and local crime laboratories and Officers of the Court in individual criminal cases. We are currently seeking an experienced Forensic Robotic Engineer to work at our Salt Lake City, UT biotechnology laboratory. This position is required to possess knowledge of multiple liquid handling platforms, everyday maintenance and operation to script creation and programming as well as knowledge of multiple detection instruments. This position will be traveling to public crime laboratories to set-up and validate forensic DNA systems that require liquid handling robotics to ensure the systems are running optimally.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Physics, Biology, Bioinformatics or related technical field.
Knowledge of biotech laboratory equipment, especially liquid handling robots, and molecular biology methods.
Must be willing to travel approximately 25% - 50% to a public crime laboratory for validation services assignment. Assignments will typically last 4 weeks in a row. We will fly you home or to any major city in the continental U.S. every weekend.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Eighteen months or more experience working in a forensic DNA laboratory performing forensic casework.

Account Manager

Sorenson Forensics, is a leading provider of casework and validation services for federal, state and local crime laboratories and Officers of the Court in individual criminal cases. We are currently seeking an experienced ACCOUNT MANAGER.

This position will be responsible for managing customer accounts, building new accounts and distribution channels, communicating the products/services offered to customers. In addition, will act as a liaison between the laboratory and accounts, report results, create letters and agreements for new and existing accounts, all customer correspondence including answering phones and emails promptly. Some travel required.

Required:

Bachelor's degree in life science related field
At least 2 years experience in a forensic laboratory

Preferred:

Sales experience or account management within the life science industry
Additional forensic laboratory experience is preferred
