DNA COLLECTION TrainerKelcey Kemp, has been involved in forensic science for over 7 years. She holds a master's degree in forensic sciences (MFS) from National University, graduating with distinction and earning honors on her thesis project of original research in forensic entomology. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from the University of California, San Diego in biology with a specialization in ecology, behavior, and evolution and a minor in Spanish literature. She is a member of the California Association of Criminalists (CAC) and the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts (IABPA).
Kelcey has worked at the Laboratory of Forensic Science as an assistant to forensic consultant Herb MacDonell. In this capacity, she aided in several criminal and civil cases involving interpretation and analysis of bloodstain patterns and case presentations at the Bloodstain Evidence Institute in Corning, NY.
She formally worked for the New Jersey State Police Office of Forensic Sciences for four years. Working in the criminalistics unit, she was certified in biological stain identification and human hair identification. Kelcey has processed hundreds of criminal cases, ranging from burglaries to sexual assaults and homicides, for the presence of biological evidence. Also responding to crime scenes, she has aided investigators and technicians in the detection and collection of evidentiary biological samples. Kelcey has been qualified as an expert witness in the Superior Court of New Jersey (Union County).
Based in Southern California, Kelcey has joined the Sorenson Forensics team as one of their remote representatives. As the western account manager and international training instructor, she provides training for law enforcement personnel and account management for submitted casework.
