Timothy Kupferschmid

Executive Laboratory Director

Timothy Kupferschmid has more than 20 years of forensic DNA testing experience. Mr. Kupferschmid holds a master's degree in forensic science (MFS) from the George Washington University and an AB degree from Bowdoin College in biology and environmental studies. Mr. Kupferschmid has worked as a senior DNA analyst at the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL), served as the Laboratory Director of the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory and was the Forensic Technical Director at Myriad Genetic Laboratories, Inc. Most recently, Mr. Kupferschmid was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD). Current and past professional memberships include American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), Scientific Working Group on DNA Analysis Methods (SWGDAM), Maine Medico-Legal Society, Maine Management Service, NDIS (National DNA Index System) Audit Review Panel and the Utah Valley University Biotechnology Program Advisory Board. Mr. Kupferschmid has given over forty scientific presentations and has numerous scientific publications.

Del Price

Associate Laboratory Director-Validation Services

Del Price received his undergraduate degree from Reed College in Portland, Oregon and his Master's degree in chemistry from MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has over 20 years of casework experience in various capacities during his career and has contributed technical expertise to criminal investigations for international, federal and local jurisdictions. The bulk of Mr. Price’s forensic casework experience was gained working as a forensic chemist/biologist from 1989 to 2004 in the Serology/DNA division of the United States Criminal Investigation Laboratory (USACIL), both overseas in Frankfurt, Germany and stateside at Fort Gillem, Georgia. In 2004 Mr. Price joined Myriad Genetics in Salt Lake City, UT. as a senior forensic analyst. In 2006 Mr. Price was contracted to establish the first operational forensic STR DNA identification laboratory deployed overseas for the Department of Defense. He has given numerous presentations and workshops of original work at forensic science meetings/symposia, was awarded two software copyrights and has a forensic journal publication to his credit.

Rick Barlow

Director of Sales and Marketing

Rick Barlow has over thirty year of successful sales and marketing experience. His business career has included director level positions at three Fortune 500 companies. He is known as a start-up specialist launching new divisions for telecommunication giants like AT&T and Sprint. As the Director of Olympic Programs for US West Communications he developed the original marketing strategy for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games sponsorship for the wireless division. He has managed multi-state sales organizations of over 100 employees and has achieved annual revenue targets of over $70 million. Most recently Rick was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a new division of Atlanta based CompuCredit. Rick has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communications from the University of Utah.
