FORENSIC DNA LAB VALIDATION
Sorenson Forensics provides forensic DNA laboratory validation services for the validation of forensic serology, DNA extraction, quantification, and amplification procedures (STRs: mini STR and Y STR), as well as instrumentation, robotics and process flow efficiencies. Our forensic DNA lab validation services are available to assist any forensic crime lab in performing DNA comparison studies between or among multiple DNA extraction methods and STR Amplification kits. Sorenson Forensics crime lab technician staff is experienced in validating any public state crime lab as well as private DNA testing labs. Our DNA Laboratory Director, Timothy Kupferschmid, served on the SWGDAM Subcommittee for Validation.
Sorenson Forensics follows all SWGDAM, ISO and ASCLD/LAB recommended guidelines for forensic validation.
Sorenson Forensics tailors our forensic DNA lab validation services to your laboratory's specific needs. We offer any public forensic crime lab the option of performing their own experiments with consultation from Sorenson Forensics or bringing a Sorenson Forensics scientist to your laboratory to perform these experiments independently or alongside one of your staff members. Sorenson Forensics analyses the DNA test results and presents you with a binder including the technical summary of DNA test results and supporting data.
At the completion of your forensic DNA laboratory validation, Sorenson Forensics will assist in the forensic training of your staff to implement the newly validated procedures into your current workflow. Each public crime lab will gain an understanding of the strengths and limitations of each procedure validated.
