Our Validation Services include the validation of serology, extraction, quantification, and amplification procedures
(STR and Y-STR), as well as instrumentation, robotics and process flow efficiencies. Our services are available to assist a crime laboratory
in performing comparison studies between or among multiple extraction methods and STR Amplification kits. Sorenson Forensics staff is highly
experienced in performing these types of validations, validating public state crime laboratories and two national vendor laboratories.
Additionally, our Laboratory Director / Technical Leader served on the SWGDAM Subcommittee for Validation. Sorenson Forensics will follow all
SWGDAM, ISO and ASCLD/LAB recommended guidelines for forensic validation.
The Sorenson Forensics Outsourcing Services will be tailored to each laboratory's specific needs. We offer the public crime
laboratory the option of performing their own experiments with consultation from Sorenson Forensics or bringing a Sorenson Forensics scientist to your
laboratory to perform these experiments independently or along side one of your staff members. We will analyze the results and present you with a well
written technical summary of results accompanied by all of the supporting data in a professionally organized binder.
Upon completion of the validation, Sorenson Forensics will assist in the training of the entire staff and help implement these newly validated procedures
into the current workflow. Additionally, each public crime laboratory will gain a strong understanding of the strengths and limitations of each procedure
validated.
